Panel event: The secret life of the Shrine

Professor Bruce Scates (BA(Hons) 1980, PhD 1995) and leading historians Ken Inglis, Joan Beaumont and Katti Williams will debate the past, present and future of the Shrine of Remembrance in celebration of its 75th year.

Governor of Victoria Professor David de Kretser AC (MD 1969, HonLLD 2006) will launch Professor Scates’ new book: A Place to Remember: The History of the Shrine of Remembrance (Cambridge University Press).

Lecture: Monash Law School 17th Lucinda Lecture

The Honourable Justice Susan Kiefel will speak on the topic ‘Section 92: markets, protectionism and proportionality – Australian and European perspectives’.

This lecture will explore recent cases involving Section 92 of the Australian Constitution and compare them with European law. Justice Kiefel will speak about economic considerations and principles relating to competition.
