"I believe the IBL program is an excellent opportunity for IT students to gain invaluable industry experience to complement their university education and make them a more attractive candidate for employment."
Victoria Colquhoun
Bachelor of Software Engineering student
Industry Based Learning (IBL) was developed in 1988 as a cooperative education collaboration between industry and Monash University at the initiative of the Business Council of Australia and supported by the Federal Government.
Industry Based Learning involves students working full-time at the program’s partner companies for 22 or 44 weeks during the second and third years of their degree. The students' work in industry is assessed and credited as part of the degree.
IBL students also participate in a number of industry assisted activities, including field trips to partner companies in first year, an industry seminar series in second year, a career start program and an exclusive graduate recruitment day in third year.
Due to Australian government regulations Industry Based Learning is currently not available to international students.
