SOFTWARE

Q1. Where can I obtain virus protection software?

Anti virus software is available from the ITS website

Q2. I can not see the applications that I normally use. Where are they?

Log in and double click on the NAL icon on the desktop.

Wait for about a minute or until the CD in the bottom right hand of the corner stops spinning. If you cannot find the NAL icon -

  • Click on the Start Menu

  • Select Run

  • In the dialog box type Y:\NALEXPLD.EXE
    Click OK

Once it has stopped, go to the start menu again and you will see that the applications have loaded.

Q3. I am trying to run an application but it is not working. What can I do?

The application may not yet be installed. Make sure the Application is properly installed by doing the following -

  • Click on the Start Menu
  • Select Information Technology Applications
  • Select Your Department or the department under which the application is to be run
  • Select Install Applications
  • Click on the Applications name (it should have (Install) after it) The machine will verify whether the application is on the machine - if not, it will install it.
  • Re attempt to access the application through the Start Menu.

Q4. Can I install software?

Refer to the ITS website - Software Catalog for a list of software available to staff.
Please contact the It Support for assistance before attempting to install any new software.

Q5.  I forgot my password! Who should I tell?

Please contact the It Support to have your password reset.

Q6. How do I change my Novell and Authcate passwords?

EMAIL

Q8 How do I access my work email from home?

Refer to the ITS website - Monash Webmail for a description of webmail and to login using your Authcate id.
You can also access email via the my.Monash portal.


Q9. What is my webmail quota?

Your quota is 100MB. Refer to the ITS website - Staff Email Quotas  for instructions how to check and reduce your usage.

Q10. What is the largest attachment I can send or receive?

The largest file you can send or receive using Monash WebMail is 3MB.

Q11. How do I synchronise my PDA to my email?

Refer to the ITS website - PDA Configuration for instructions.
